Lancaster mayor apologizes for his remarks, AFTER being confronted by Muslims!

Mayor Rex Parris apologized about his comments about making the City of Lancaster a “Christian community.”

Not because of any logical reason, but because he was approached by ANOTHER religious group who was offended. The Council on American-Islamic Relations approached the mayor and shortly afterward, said to a gathering of local Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims, that he is sorry about his comment, and that what he meant is that Lancaster should be a Christian community in the sense that it should be good to its neighbors.

Why didn’t he say that in the first place? Probably because it’s not what he meant in the first place.

Mayor announces that Lancaster endorses one sky daddy over all the rest

In an aggressive stance against the Founding Fathers of the United States, Lancastor’s Mayor Rex Parris is prepared to breach the separation of church and state by uttering Christian-only prayers at city council meetings.

According to the Antelope Valley Press, Parris said to a crowd of mainly clergymen and their spouses, “We’re growing a Christian community, and don’t let anybody shy away from that”.

Parris is also promoting a ballot measure that supports prayer at public meetings with reference to a specific deity such as Jesus.

In response, secular and Muslim groups are protesting this and with good reason. How can a government openly endorses ANY religion be expected to uphold the rights of those who follow a different sky daddy, or none at all?

But seriously, how is this any different then someone saying, “Lancaster endorses Poseidon as its god of choice”? And does this actually give Lancaster credibility? I don’t think so. Because in the eyes of a world illuminated by science, Lancaster politics has become a joke.
