Danny
Danny is one of the famous Desert Dog biologists. He has a
background in studying reptiles, but insects are his specialty. He
is a Stream Ecologist/Taxonomist.
A lot of people don't know this, but Danny was one of the biggest Star
Wars collectors in the West Coast up until a few years ago. "It
was too much competition," he said. He's also a history buff, and
a fan of genealogy.
Danny says that while he likes all insects, he is particularly fond of
weevils. "I guess it's just their appearance. Their long
rostrum (nose/mouth) makes them look comical.
Why does he like the desert? Deserts have something special.
They're an extreme environment, but at the same time peaceful. "I enjoy
going to the desert because its a place where you have a choice of
looking towards the horizon and not see a single distraction or search
all around you and find wildlife, artifacts, and beautiful landscapes,"
he said.
Count on Danny to bring insightful information about the Mojave Desert's
wide variety of wildlife.
